Affleck Street – New Home Interior Design

Affleck Street is a  full new home interior design project: a brand-new two-storey house given warmth, character and a sense of calm through furniture, finishes and styling alone. The owners had the home; what they wanted was for it to feel finished — considered, layered and genuinely theirs, rather than freshly built and waiting. So we dressed it from the ground up, room by room, around a single warm and organic palette.

There’s an art to furnishing a new home well. The architecture arrives as a blank canvas, which sounds freeing but is its own challenge: without a strong material story, rooms can feel flat. We gave Affleck Street that story first, then let every selection follow it.

This was a full-home furnishing package across both levels of a home in Cranbourne East — entrance and hallway, guest bedroom, lounge, dining, living, kitchen, alfresco and the master suite. Each space was planned as part of one connected whole, so the eye travels easily from room to room and nothing feels bolted on. Because this was furnishing rather than building, every decision had to earn its place visually — there were no new walls or joinery to lean on, only the pieces themselves.

In the entrance, two consoles visually extend the hallway while baskets and texture soften the hard stone underfoot. It sets the tone for the home: warm, tactile and unhurried.

The material story leans into beige undertones, light timber furniture and curved, sculpted forms, grounded by travertine accents and brushed brass. Running through it all is a thread of olive green — in artwork, in decor, in the occasional olive tree — that brings the outdoors in and keeps the palette feeling fresh rather than flat. It is restrained and organic, the kind of scheme that ages well.

Hardware and lighting add quiet definition. Brass fixtures warm the rooms; subtle black accents appear just often enough to anchor them. Nothing shouts; every piece is chosen to sit in harmony with the next.

In the lounge, oversized artwork with olive undertones adds warmth to the walls, while existing pieces are softened with light decor rather than replaced — good furnishing respects what already works. The dining room centres on an oval table that seats eight, chosen for softness and to make the most of the space. The living zone layers a linear pendant, taupe stools with brass accents and considered decorative moments. In the kitchen and adjoining living space, existing pendants are kept and styled around, with an olive tree bringing a note of green to the island. Out to the alfresco, the existing outdoor setting is refreshed rather than replaced, so the indoor calm carries through to where the family entertains.

Upstairs, the master becomes a retreat: a soft geometric wallpaper for a touch of luxury, glass pendant lights for elegance, a repetition of warm wood tones and an oversized geometric rug to ground the room.

Furnishing a home well is a process, not a single delivery. It begins with a visual moodboard capturing the look, palette, textures and lighting, then moves into detailed 3D visualisations so the owners can see each room before committing. From there we prepare a scaled furniture plan with exact measurements, make the furniture and furnishing selections, and document everything in a finishes schedule — suppliers, pricing and discounts included — with rounds of revisions built in.

Affleck Street shows what a considered Cranbourne East home furnishing can do for a new build: a two-storey home turned warm, layered and quietly luxurious, without moving a single wall. Calm, cohesive and ready to live in.
