Luxury Home Furnishing – Melbourne Interior Design Project Showcase
Cerulean House is a beautiful luxury home furnishing project based in Melbourne with a clear ambition: to bring modern-luxury warmth to a large, light-filled family home through furniture, finishes and lighting. The house was already built and beautiful in its bones; our brief was to layer it with the textures, tones and pieces that turn a new build into a home with depth. We approached it as one connected scheme across both levels, delivered in considered stages.
Luxury, here, is quiet. It lives in the grain of walnut joinery, the weight of good fabric and the way a room is lit — not in anything loud.
The brief: an elevated family home
This was a full-home furnishing and lighting project in Melbourne’s South-East, spanning the ground and first floors — entrance, lounge, hallway, study, laundry, theatre, kitchen and living, dining, and the private bedrooms above. With a busy family in mind, every space had to be beautiful and genuinely usable, so the plan balances grand gestures with everyday comfort.
To keep things manageable, the work was structured in two stages, each with its own concept, visualisations and finishes — so the home comes together steadily, without compromise. Furnishing an already-built home is its own discipline — the architecture is fixed, so warmth and character have to come entirely from what goes into the rooms.
A warm, earthy material story
The palette is built on earthy tones: taupe fabrics, walnut as the primary joinery laminate, marble accents and brushed brass, layered over textured rugs that add depth underfoot. Walnut threads through the home for cohesion — the entrance joinery, for instance, is matched to the staircase so the eye reads one continuous material.
The master bedroom takes a richer turn. Its scheme draws from a crystal tallboy, picking up accents of copper, maroon and deep brown for a sense of harmony and warmth.
Living, designed for family
The ground floor is built for togetherness. The lounge pairs oversized curtains for grandness with an electric freestanding fireplace and a conversational furniture layout, softened by tall vases in organic forms. The theatre is wrapped in upholstered acoustic panels with a deep, relaxed couch and chaise for family downtime.
In the hallway, a gallery wall of family photos and a timber console break up the tiling and add personality, while the kitchen and living zone is refreshed with a rug, roman blinds and an accent pendant. A study off the living areas swaps stiff armchairs for a daybed and an oversized artwork that balances the joinery, making it a room for working or simply pausing.
Rest, considered
Upstairs is about retreat. The master pairs a custom upholstered headboard with its copper-and-maroon palette; a walk-in robe, a study and the children’s rooms each get the same considered treatment. Even the laundry earns its finishes, with an emperador-look porcelain benchtop and adjustable, practical storage.
A staged furnishing process
A home like this is delivered, not dropped. Each stage begins with a concept moodboard, then detailed 3D visualisations so the owners can experience each room before sign-off.
We translate the approved direction into real selections within budget, document everything in a finishes and fixtures schedule with online portal access, then coordinate sourcing and purchasing with suppliers through to install. Two rounds of revisions are built into each stage, so the family stays in control of the direction at every step.
The outcome
Cerulean House is modern-luxury home furnishing at its most liveable: a family home layered in taupe, walnut, brass and marble, warmed by considered lighting and rich, personal details. Calm, cohesive and built to be lived in.
